Pageant Director In 2020
In early 1999, I was hired as the Miss Beverly Hills pageant director. My role was to scout girls from the Los Angeles area to compete in a series of preliminary pageants I produced, culminating in the prestigious Miss Beverly Hills 2000 pageant, held at the world-famous Beverly Hills Hotel, alongside the Miss World USA competition. We hosted these smaller competitions at Chase's restaurant in Beverly Hills, with around 15 girls participating in each. The winner of every preliminary pageant advanced to the final competition. Over the course of this process, I managed and trained a total of 126 girls.
Honored with a Leadership Award from the County of Los Angeles, signed by the Mayor and endorsed by multiple city council members, and presented by Councilman Nate Holden, for my outstanding role in the Miss Beverly Hills pageant.
Riding the Early Days of Live Streaming
Our company, iLive.com, was at the forefront of the internet boom, pioneering live video streaming on broadband internet. Each contestant had a personalized webpage where they could campaign for votes from their friends. This meant success wasn't just about winning the weekly pageant; the girls with the most votes on their iLive.com pages also advanced to the main competition at the Beverly Hills Hotel. To help the girls generate votes, we took them on fun beach photoshoots, creating engaging video content. We even made trading cards with their pictures to help with name recognition. Our promotional efforts extended beyond online content. I organized various publicity events throughout Los Angeles. Leveraging my connections, I even secured an invitation to the Playboy Mansion for a Halloween party with some of the contestants. It was a whirlwind of fun and a great way to generate buzz for the pageant.
A Starry Night at Barfly
The once-legendary Barfly on the Sunset Strip transformed into a dazzling stage for the Miss Beverly Hills pageant. In a star-studded affair, the venue hosted a glamorous party to announce the contestants advancing to the main event. Flashing cameras and eager anticipation filled the air as the press descended upon the iconic location to witness the momentous occasion.
